The Tik Tok Trend Changed My Life (Dramatic, I Know)

The famous “hot girl” walk that went viral on Tik Tok during the pandemic changed many lives. It reframed exercise in a fun, positive light with no focus on weight loss or calories. Playlists were made and groups were put together for every young person to embark on their own Hot Girl walk. I was just not one of these people…at first.

At the height of the pandemic, I began to focus on my health because what else was there? We were all bored searching for something to trigger our dopamine sensors. I became fascinated with working out in ways I felt in my body, which left me sore. I eventually realized my fascination had turned to obsession and was now unhealthy.

So, I turned to the hot girl walk which it seemed everyone else had been loving. I looked up a playlist, specifically by @_marsh_ellie on Spotify. This boosted my mood and motivated me to actually start walking. I got out and did it. Success!

But this was just one time. I needed to make it a habit. So I set an alarm for each day, a reminder that I needed to get outside and walk. I began to notice my stamina improve resulting in longer walks. My mood skyrocketed and I looked forward to my hot girl walks. I strutted about my neighborhood without a care in the world. It was exhilarating.

This worked for a few months but eventually became mundane. It was the same every day, the same music, the same place, even the same clothes sometimes. (Yes gross, but I am lazy… and honest apparently.) Anyway, I needed to breathe new life into the hot girl walk and I did this in a few ways. I call this the revamped hot girl walk.

I Started To Dress Up

For my hot girl walks I began to put thought into my outfits. Some days this meant full glam for me, a styled outfit, and makeup so I could really feel like a baddie. Other days it just meant wearing a matching workout set. On really bad days, it just meant getting dressed. All of these are valid ways to dress up and would instantly amp me up to get out and walk.

I Changed The Setting

I began to explore the paths and trails around me. I began to hot girl walk in more public places. Walking by the Hudson River added a bit of glamour to my hot girl walks and boosted my mood with the fresh air. Also walking at certain times, such as sunset, add a glowy nature to your environment. Remember, anywhere can be beautiful if we’re looking on the bright side!!

A Change In Music

Lastly, a change in music elevated my hot girl walks. Instead of just listening to songs to be a badass, I started listening to music to specifically bring good vibes. I made my own playlists of songs tied with good memories, songs with uplifting lyrics, and songs with a good walking beat.

Hot girl walks are for everyone and deserve the hype. Nothing beats getting out there and walking, breathing in the fresh air, and feeling the sun. I also was going on walks because my therapist said so. So yeah, kill two birds with one stone. Work on yourself physically and mentally with a dash of confidence and you’ll be feeling great. So start hot girl walking today.
